Most people won’t miss 50 cents per month—it’s pocket change. But when thousands of neighbors contribute together, those small contributions become a powerful agent for real change. That’s the simple yet powerful idea behind Great Lakes Energy’s People Fund, a program that makes a big impact across 26 counties in Michigan. Participating Great Lakes Energy members have their monthly bills rounded up to the nearest dollar. That spare change is then pooled and turned into grants which are awarded to local non-profit organizations to use for charitable activities.
